About Us

The Brooklyn Collectiv Music Group started in February '06 when Brooklyn rapper Sagittarius Black met DJ Gunz through a mutual friend. Its main goal since has been to help develop artists of all genres, encouraging them to become songwriters and exercise creative control over their careers. The Collectiv's first original song was "New York Rap", which was recorded in March of '06. Since then, they have released dozens of remixes and original works, formed an official music production company (Brooklyn Collectiv Music Group, LLC), worked with more artists and have started a DJ team devoted to the Collectiv cause.

On October 1, 2008, Sag Black and DJ Gunz independently released the "Burden Of Proof" album, the debut from Sag that features original production from himself and Gunz, and features from Brooklyn Collectiv collaborators D. Wilz, Yung Image, Jae Cy, and fellow Brooklyn rapper AP. While we promote this album, the Brooklyn Collectiv DJs are hard at work knocking out mixtapes, and we are also working with Yung Image and D. Wilz on their solo efforts.

With the motto "Respect the Perspective," the Collectiv is a movement to watch out for!
