Sag Black

Brooklyn rapper Sagittarius Black is someone making noise. Tricksta took time out to interview this promising Brooklyn rapper. Read more to get the latest…

Where are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene/industry like there?
I’m from Brooklyn, New York. Yea, there’s a lot of open mic spots in the city like Nuyorican Poets Cafe, you can find me there every once in a while and Pyramid Club I’ve performed there a few times.

How did you get into music and what was the first Hip-Hop record you ever brought?
I’ve been surrounded by music my whole life. My moms played the oldies in the house and my brother played Hip Hop all the time. The first Hip Hop joint I brought was 19 Naughty lll “Hip Hop Hooray” was my ish of course. The next record I brought was The Shady LP and shortly after Nas’ I Am… I think those 3 influences kind of paint the picture of me as an artist…. kind of lol.

What have you released so far and what has the response been like?
We’ve released two projects so far. One mix tape “The Evolution of Sag Black” and my debut album “Burden Of Proof”. The response has been crazy in the streets. The radio is filled with style over substance. People always come up to me and tell me they appreciate what I say in my rhymes.
